2016 GVDGA Champion of Champions

This year's GVDGA Champion of Champions tournament will be held at the Shepparton Golf Club, on Sunday 20th November. Entry forms etc will be on the website when made available.


2016 GVDGA Championships

The Goulburn Valley District Golf Association championship was held at Cobram-Barooga Golf Club on Sunday the 21st of August.  Thank you to Cobram for hosting the event after it was transferred from Numurkah Golf Club who were unable to host this.

Played over 36 holes in mild conditions defending champion Kyle Michel from Shepparton claimed a 9 shot victory over the runner up Brett Kellow with 151 from Mooroopna.

Kyle shot a round of 70 in the morning to be the leader at the half way mark and then he carded a 72 in the afternoon to finish on 142.

Jackson Gentle from KY Parkland with a 36 hole total of 161 won the under 18 Championship.

The B Grade scratch was won by Ashley Kuiper from Mooroopna with 163.  The A Grade handicap winner was Andrew Storer from Numurkah with153 net.

B Grade went to Numurkah Garry Hosie on 149 net.  The Sub Junior title with a round of 78 in the morning was won by Cooper Gentle from Ky Parkland who also won this in 2014 and 2015.

There was also a 18 hole competition which was won by Paul Dickens with a net 77.

After the presentations the Country Week squad was announced by Simon Michel (Team Manager) with Brett Kellow (Captain) Mooroopna, Kyle Michel Shepparton, Ben and James MacGibbon and Jamie Scapin all from Mooroopna, Andrew Storer and Dylan Grandell both from Numurkah, Chris Tomlinson from Cobram-Barooga and Cooper and Jackson Gentle from KY Parkland.

Kialla Golf Club 2016 Open Tournaments

Postponed to a date to be advised!

Kialla Golf Club will be holding their Open Tournaments on Sunday 18th September.

These events will include the Junior Under 18 Open Championship, in conjunction with the Open Men's 18 hole stroke championship. Entry is $15 per player with a BBQ from 11am.

This event is still on, but stay tuned for updates:

On Sunday 25th, there will be a Open Mixed Yankee event, 11.30am assembly for a 12 o'clock shotgun start. Again a BBQ will be running from 11am. Afternoon tea is included in both events.

2016 GVDGA Sandgreen Championship Results

The 2016 Sandscrape Open Championship was played at Tallygaroopna Golf Club on Sunday the 7th of August in sunny conditions.  The course was playing long and was very heavy in parts which was affected by all the recent rain, however the club was able to prepare the course later in the week.

A number of clubs were represented and these were Kialla, Shepparton, Tallygaroopna, KY Parkland, Numurkah, Mooroopna, Cosgrove, Nathalia, Nagambie, Merrigum and Axedale.

The GV Champion for 2016 was Peter Jeffery from Cosgrove with a fine 81 SCR.  Peter was the runner up last year and has won this championship a few times in the last few years.

B Grade scratch was Austin Baker from KY Parkland with 90 SCR and C Grade was his brother Jarrod Baker with 95 SCR.

The A Grade Handicap was won by local member Gary Hosie with a net 76, B Grade Handicap was won by another local Neville Hosie with a net 78 and the C Grade was won by Ross Campbell from Kialla with a net 74.

The Nearest the pin winners were A Grade G Thompson, B Grade G Wall and in C Grade no body was successful.

The Longest Drive in A grade was G Thompson, B Grade was N Montgomery and C Grade was Z Brett.

Ball winners were given out to a net 81 and these were J Ward, P McInnes, E McQuienn, W Thursen, N Montgomery and G Wall.

The GV Golf Association would like to thank Tallygaroopna Golf Club for hosting the event and also the support from their sponsors.  Thanks also to the club for providing a meal and soup for all the golfers during and after the event.

This year the GVDGA Championship is being held at the Cobram Barooga Golf Club, on Sunday 21st August.
The days events will start at 7.30am for the 36 hole competition, and the 18 hole competition joining the field at 11.00am.
Various events will be contested.
Entries close on the 16th August.

Event 1      GV Championship 36 Hole Scratch

Event 2      Runner Up (Event 1)

Event 3      GV Junior Championship 36 Holes Scratch – U18

Event 4      B Grade 36 Holes Scratch

Event 5      A Grade 36 Holes Handicap

Event 6      B Grade 36 Holes Handicap

Event 7      GV Sub Junior Championship U15 (18 holes AM) 

Event 8      Junior U15 Handicap (18 holes AM)

Event 9      Handicap (18 Hole Special Event) PM (Carts Allowed) 

Event 10    Nearest the Pin’s

*One major trophy per player. (Exception) the Junior Champion shall be eligible to win Event 1.  The Sub Junior Champion shall be eligible to win Event 3.

Other events may be played for at the discretion of the executive committee.

2016 GVDGA Winter Pennant Results


The Final of the Goulburn Valley District Golf Association Men’s Winter Pennant series was played at Hill Top Golf Club on Sunday.

Cold conditions greeted players for the early starters however the sun did try to come out and the rain stayed away most of the day.  This season has had some of the wettest conditions for a number of years with a lot of venue changes happening.  Thank you to all the clubs that assisted with all the moves.

President of the Association Peter Fraser thanked Hill Top for hosting the event and having the course in good condition.  He also thanked the Hill Top officials and staff for their help in running the event.  Association Captain Ross Campbell presented all winning team Captains with the traditional Premiership Flag’s.

Division 1 Numurkah def Mooroopna 4 and 1

Numurkah was successful in winning Division 1 last year and they were defending the Bert Larsen Perpetual Trophy.  Mooroopna were also undefeated.

Dylan Grandell def Jordy Geisler 1 up, Mitch Grandell def Ben Mac Gibbon 5 and 3, Andrew Storer def James Mac Gibbon 1 up, Nick Ludington def Jamie Scapin 5 and 4 and Matt Sellars lost to Brett Kellow 3 and 2.

Division 2 Mooroopna def Numurkah 3 and 2

Numurkah played in this final last year and played Mooroopna this year who had a big win in the last round to get into the final.

Adrian Gleeson def Gary Hosie 3 and 2, Dean McDonald lost to Jamie Ward 4 and 3, David Young lost to Andrew Nicholls 3 and 2, Michael Barca def Brandon Hosie 2 and 1 and Steven Haigh def David Booth 2 up.

Division 3 Cobram def Shepparton 3 and 2

Two different clubs were out to win this Division this year.  Shepparton were the leaders in this division and played Cobram who won in the last round to get into the final by one game.

Mick Hayler def Shane McDonald 1 up, Will Power lost to Ken Baxter 7 and 6, Jordan Bovolina def Alan Schmedje 6 and 5, Jon Milovitch lost to Wes Ridd 7 and 5 and Matt Haddrell def Bryan Scott 4 and 3.

Division 4 Shepparton def Kialla 4 and 1

Two different clubs were out to win this Division this year. Kialla finished on top and were in another final but they were beaten by Shepparton in the first round.

Greg Birks def Mario Gagliardi 4 and 3, Gavan Mears lost to Steve Roberts 5 and 3, Bruce Fuller def Jordan Meloury 2 and 1, Clem Robl Def Jim Mallis 19th and Dave De’Lia def James Bicknell 7 and 5.

Division 5 Ky Parkland def Nagambie 3 and 2

Two different clubs were out to win this Division this year with Ky Parkland undefeated during the season.  This final went to the last pair on the last hole for a decision which went Ky Parkland’s way.

Rick Walsh lost to Tyrone Muir 3 and 2, Paul McInnes def Bob Norris 3 and 2, Ed McQuienn def Dean Brown 4 and 3, Scott McLennan lost to Mark Nolan 4 and 3 and Russell Locke def Michael Sloan 1 up.

Division 6 Nagambie def Mooroopna 3 and 2

Two different clubs were out to win this Division this year with Nagambie in its first final for a few years.

Barry Cryer lost to Roger Madgwick 1 up, Phil Neville def Tony Barca 2 up, Shaun Bryant def Alan Treves 3 and 2, Shane McCormick def Greg Freer 4 and 3 and David Love lost to Troy Lunberg 3 and 2.

The Goulburn Valley Sandscrape Championship will be held Sunday the 7/8/16 at Tallygaroopna Golf Club.  Entries can be made to Sparra Montgomery on 0418 579 474.

The Goulburn Valley 2016 Championship this year is being held on Sunday the 21/8/16.  The Entry form will be available on the web site shortly once the venue is confirmed.

The Final Round of the season was held on Sunday, with a lot of new clubs qualifying for the finals.

Results from the final round on Sunday the 17/7/16 and again thank you to all the clubs that have assisted with the change of venues due to some other clubs being closed or in very poor condition due to all the recent rain events.

Pennant Division 1 was played at Rich River.
